Abby Lee, a graduate student in MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, is setting her sights on breaking a Guinness World Record by becoming the youngest woman to compete in an Ironman triathlon on all six inhabited continents. An ultra-endurance triathlon that takes place throughout the world, Ironman spans 140.6 miles and requires athletes to swim, bike, and run in succession. Earlier this year, Lee completed races in South Africa, Brazil, and Spain, and is now preparing to tackle races in the remaining continents, including the Ironman World Championship, which will take place in October in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
