Early Creatures
MIT geochemists found evidence suggesting some of the first animals on Earth were likely ancestors of the sea sponge. “We don’t know exactly what these organisms would have looked like back then, but they absolutely would have lived in the ocean, they would have been soft-bodied, and we presume they didn’t have a silica skeleton,” says Professor Roger Summons.

Discovery of the week: Magnetic transistors // Forbes
Researchers at MIT have developed magnetic transistors, which could enable faster and more energy-efficient semiconductors. “Magnetic transistors allow for memory to be built into the chip instead of as a separate component, which could speed up a number of applications, especially AI.”
